583E TUBE MIC PRE WITH EQ

TWO-IN-ONE CHANNEL STRIP WITH TUBE PREAMP AND 3 BAND EQ

The world’s first 500 format tube mic preamplifier.

The LaChapell 583E is a tube mic pre with EQ that is compatible with any 500 series chassis. The 583E EQ section can function in series with the tube preamp or independently as a separate EQ. The 583E preamp section features a single channel vacuum tube preamplifier with LaChapell’s proprietary TrueTube™ technology. Most other tube designs for the 500 series leave the tube starved for power while TrueTube delivers a full 250V, powering it at its optimal range. Cinemag input transformers, Jensen output transformers and other high quality components have been carefully selected to ensure the signal chain is not compromised.

In addition to the preamp, the 583E features an ultra-clean, phase coherent EQ section. It can follow the preamp or operate as a separate module. Address either of the two XLR inputs on a 500 series chassis to access either the preamp or the EQ or both in series.

The EQ design draws from the LaChapell model 503, featuring the same low distortion signature with minimal phase deviation. Perfect for tracking or mixing, the 583E tube mic pre with EQ is great on any source.

FEATURES

DUAL DRIVE KNOBS
The Dual Drive knobs on LaChapell's preamps provide an infinite array of tonal options. Favoring the input knob increases the signal going to the tube, resulting in more harmonics and overall distortion. Favoring the output knob yields a very clean signal. Together, you can dial in sounds from pristine to warm and harmonically rich.

VERSATILE TONE WITH PAD
The pad switch not only provides a -20dB gain reduction for high input sources, it also works with the Dual Drive knobs to create color and headroom options. Engage the pad to dial in warm tones with
lots of headroom.

TRUETUBE™ 250V POWER
TrueTube™ technology supplies both the plate and filament of the tube with the proper voltages they need to access the full characteristics of the tube. Other 500 series modules cannot supply the needed 250V and don’t have the headroom or harmonics that characterize that classic tube sound.

VPR ALLIANCE CERTIFIED
Your assurance that the 583E operates within specifications. Even though we properly power the tube with 250V, the 583S draws a only a modest amount of power from the frame. You can fill a VPR approved 500 frame with 583S modules with no problems whatsoever.

FRONT PANEL HI-Z INPUT
The front panel Hi-Z input allows you to plug a bass or other instrument directly into the 583E. As an instrument front end, the 583E allows for natural tube compression and harmonics to any input source.

TWO MODULES IN ONE
The clean and transparent EQ section on the 583E can operate immediately following the tube preamp section, or as its own separate module. When combined, the output of the preamp and EQ appears on the “Preamp Side” XLR outputs. When independent, the in and out of the “EQ Side” operate separately. Use as a complete channel strip or as two separate 500 series modules.

583E MK2 RAVES & REVIEWS

“I use the LaChapell 583E mostly for overheads and acoustic instruments. I use a stereo ribbon mic on overheads The 583E has a very smooth top end and with the EQ I can add just the right amount to brighten up the very top without it sounding harsh, the high end stays nice and silky. It also is very quiet when used on acoustic guitars with a ribbon mic. Overall a very clear and open mic pre.”–  Mike Wagener,

“I’ve been using the 992 now for several years and it is my “go to” mic/line instrument preamp for all of my recordings. It is clean and any mic or instrument that I plug into it sounds good. I use it for acoustic guitars, vocals and other instruments as well. It is a fine piece of professional recording gear that I highly recommend!”
